I want to make my career in the allied healthcare field....?
...Can anybody suggest me which would be best course to do?
I want to make my career in the allied healthcare field. Can anybody suggest me which would be best course to do? I am looking forwardâ¦
...but there are several things to be concerned about.
First, there are many programs that are pretty much scams that take your money, give you little relevant training and really dont find you jobs.
Having worked in health care and having many friends in this arena, I notice that many select nursing - if they go to a licensed practical nurse program they can go to work and often realize that they would like to go on further in school and become a registered nurse, a nurse practitioner, etc. It is very helpful if this program is part of a nursing school curriculum. Nurses work in all sorts of fields.
Nursing at the RN level is paid very well because there is truly a shortage of nurses. Nursing is not easy, but it is a 24/7 job which you can fit into your schedule and life. It is a transferrable skill that can move from state to state.
I would seek a school/college that offers this training and where credits can be used toward an advanced degree.
Talk to those who work in your doctor's or dentist's offices or to someone who does your x-rays, etc. to see what they think. Some will have a story of doing it the hard way and wish they had done it another way. Others will rave about their training. Talk to your pharmacist and see what you need to become a pharmacy tech - many go on to become pharmacists.
There is a great demand also for x-ray technicians and there are special accredited schools to take this program. It is another rather high-tech field and you need a good sense of math, etc. but it is also transferrable.
I dont know your age so tht may be a factor. Do some good research before you jump. You do need to narrow down your options. If you can afford to go to a college and get a bachelors degree in any of these fields, it will be ideal.
Hope that this helps.
