Unfortunately accidents in the workplace are all too common and there are many, many work place environments and scenarios that could result in you being left with some amount of scarring following an accident at work. Whether you have been burned by a chemical in a factory environment, scalded by some spilt oil in the kitchen where you work or have tripped and fallen cutting yourself severely, you may have been left with a scar that is making you feel distressed and self-conscious. This article looks at what you should do if you have had an accident in the workplace that has resulted in scarring, whether you are able to make a claim for compensation for your injury and how much compensation you may receive.
The very first thing you should do following an accident in the workplace is to seek medical assistance. If the injury you have sustained is serious then one of your work colleagues should take you to hospital or call 999. If your injury is less severe, you should seek advice from the on-site first aider - who will perhaps bathe and bandage your wound - before seeking further medical attention from your GP or local A&E department.
