Here is how you clean your batteries:

a. Hold the device so the lens part of the device is pointing town, and the gray part with a light switch is on top.
b. Gently turn little gray part of the microscope body to the left.
c. Carefully pull out the light system mechanism.
d. Very carefully pull out the plastic piece on the lighting mechanism. Make sure not to rip the wire!
e. You will see two batteries. Take out both batteries.
f. Clean batteries with rubbing alcohol, dry with a cloth and put batteries back, plus sign down.
g. Reassemble the device by putting the light system back in the body of the device.
