What's the difference between saline solution and multi-purpose solution for contacts?
I went to Walgreens and asked the doctor there what the difference was, he looked at both boxes and said "nothing" well... I'm sure there is a difference since one box is 5 bucks more expensive.
I'm assuming you were looking at Aquify 'multi-purpose solution. Their website doesn't have a FAQ about how it's different than regular saline (that should be a hint that it isn't). They profess to be the only multi-purpose wash cleared for use with silicone hydrogel lenses (not quite sure what those are), and they profess to kill bacteria. Often, the only difference between products is a name-brand, which is often the only difference in price. If the pharmacist looked at the active ingredients and didn't see a difference, then there probably really isn't. Go back and see what the active ingredients are in saline and this multi-purpose stuff, and see if they really are different. It's like when you go to buy Tylenol, look for acetaminophen (the ones that say "compare to Tylenol"). You'll find that the store brand contains the exact same active ingredients as the name brand, at better than half the cost.
