Are these orthopedic walking boots washable? I had surgery, & now the boot smells.. It's one with an air pump,?
I had to have ankle surgery like a month ago because I fell down a few stairs.. So, a week after the surgery, I got a walking boot put on, so I could walk on it. Now it's been over a month of wearing this boot almost non-stop 24/7, and even with constant sock changing, it smells like sweaty feet. Ew! I don't want to wear a smelly walking boot! So, I noticed that I can get the fabric unattached from the metal & foam frame. I was about to wash it, and then I realized.. It's a walking boot WITH an air pump built in! So, I have no idea if washing it will ruin the air pump!! I have to visit my neurologist in the morning (I'm epileptic), and I don't want to go there smelling like sweaty feet! Does ANYONE know if it's okay to wash??

I wouldn't try it since it has an air pump, if it didn't I'd say go for it. Try using febreeze, it will temporarily make it smell better at least for your doctor's appointment. If you can, when you are just sitting around remove the boot and let your foot breath a little. You could always call your doctor and see if he'll write you a script for another boot. If you are going to be spending a lot of time in this boot, they tend to get worn out so insurance may cover another one.
