Hypermobility and ankle sprains/twisting ankle?
My son has hypermobility and low muscle tone. In just a week 4 times he has hurt his ankle really bad. It kind of folds underneath him, the first time I though it was broken. It seems now it has happened once it is going to keep happening. I have been unable to speak to OT, will try again tomorrow. Is there anything I can do or does he need a proper support/splint made to stop it happening. I was going to use some Tubigrip but that doesnt seem like it will give enough support.
Don't know what tubigrip is but if it is the same as coban then yes. also there are ankle supports that may help. But when i first pulled the ligaments in my ankle it would twist under me a the drop of the hat the first year after I got my cast off,( had a full cast for 6 months) not one of those air casts. They told my mom to make me wear hi top tennis shoes. I think I was 18 before I ever wore regular shoes again about 4 years. Hopes this helps.
