We have a quadrilateral having vertices A(2,1), B(6,2), C(6,5) and D(1,3). We have to find the coordinates of the image figure, when the object is transformed under a two-way stretch with x=4 as the invariant line (scale factor 2) and with y=2 as the invariant line (stretch factor - 2).
Can somebody explain how we will do this two-way stretch??

in the x-direction, everything will move twice as far away from x = 4, so take the difference from 4, double it, and add it back to the invariant line
ex: A (2 - 4) = -2 , -2 * 2 = -4 , 4 - 4 = 0
so the "x-stretch" will go to : A' (0 , 1) B' (8 , 2) C' 8( , 5) and D' (-2 , 3)
the y-stretch will move everything twice as far awy from y = 2, but in the opposite direction
so A" (0 , 3) (down 1 to up 2 from y = 2), B" (8 , 2) (on the invariant line) C" (8 , -4) (up 3 to down 6) and D" (-2 , 0) (up 1 to down 2)
final coordinates: A" (0 , 3) B" (8 , 2) , C" (8 , -4) D" (-2 , 0)
