Does anybody know what the red grips at the end of the sidewalk are for?
I know they're in the downriver michigan area, I don't know about country-wide. They're these rectangular red platforms with raised bumps at the end of every sidewalk or crosswalk. I was wondering if anybody knew "officially" what they're for. My guesses were that they were either a signal for the blind that they were about to enter a cross road or grips when it was icy out or better grips for wheelchairs/scooters (although I've heard that the make it harder for the latter).
Anyone know "officially?"
