feeling before labor...what did you experience?

there are so many different labor and pre-labor stories on here. and as you all know everyones pregnancy is so different and their labor is different. but what are the things that seem to be the same no matter what?

I had absolutely no labor signs before it started. My only inclination that I was going into labor was the bloody show (which is a typical sign of impending labor). I was only 36 weeks and had the show on a Sunday morning. My baby was as active as ever, if not moreso. I had lost my plug, but it was a slow process and I could have easily confused it with discharge (the only reason I knew it was gone is because my midwife checked me the Friday before). My bowels were normal, my back was not hurting and never did at all. My son was still high even while I was in labor. It was just "out of the blue."
